Honestly a lot bigger than I anticipated! If you’re going during summer be warned it’s VERY hot! They do have ample water fountains and restrooms through the garden. Must see if you’re into plants, nature, and scenery views! The garden shop is also a decent size and have cute souvenirs.

What a beautiful place! My husband and I were so happy to have visited. The Gardens are a treasure trove of miracles... from the number of Gambel's quail roaming and making their cute sounds to the glorious Queen of the Night plant whose flowers bloom once during a full moon (to which we were pointed by a friendly and informative guest) to the tranquil contemplation garden with its soothing sounds of water to the butterflies, hummingbirds, other wildlife, and multitudes of cactus species, it's like a Disney World of Nature. We will definitely be back because we didn't even see half of it. Go if you have the chance. The Garden is a beautiful, peaceful place that will give you a respite.

Wandering through the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix was like stepping into a secret, serene world. It's hard to believe such a tranquil oasis exists in the heart of a bustling city. From the moment I stepped through the gates, I was mesmerized by the vibrant hues of the desert flora and the intricate patterns of the cacti. Even though we arrived early, the desert sun began to heat up as the morning wore on, so I'd recommend coming even earlier to fully enjoy the experience. The well-marked trails guided us through a variety of landscapes, from towering saguaros to lush oases. There were plenty of shaded spots to rest and appreciate nature's artistry. The combination of natural beauty and thought-provoking art installations made for a truly unforgettable experience. If you're looking to escape the city's hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in the wonders of the desert, the Desert Botanical Garden is a must-visit.

Beautiful botanical gardens!! MUST visit when in Phoenix. The place has been designed beautifully. The cactii are huge and gorgeous. We also saw a few hummingbirds up close! Went in the evening so had the chance to witness a beautiful sunset. The place offers defined trails, clear signs, plenty of rest stops, water fountains and clean restrooms.Very very pleasant experience, could not recommend this place enough!

I visited on their free day, which meant more people but it was rarely crowded. Getting the latest ticket allowed us to skip the hottest part of the day and still see the garden in the light. It seemed to lack the glass sculptures that used to fill the area, but has a good variety of plant life. I highly enjoyed looking at the placards to identify the plants and animals. After sunset, the plants were watered with sprinklers that sometimes hit the path. It helped cool the air down for us and was fun to see. There are artificial lights but they don't cover much. Most people used their phone lights. We got lost, which was fun but caused some difficulty when we wanted to leave. I recommend downloading the map at the beginning. Not all the paths are paved, so bring good, closed walking shoes. There are plenty of spots to sit down if you do need to rest

Visited as night fell and enjoyed wandering the grounds looking at the art pieces currently on display and the many varieties of outdoor plants native to various regions of Arizona. This was a very large outdoor garden with well designed paths and educational signs. At least two different paths were blocked off for private events, but I suspect more would be visible during the day. I appreciated that the garden was open late because it was cooler at night. One of their desert gardens in particular had signage that it can get to over 120°F during the day, so come prepared with water and appropriate clothing for the heat that may be warmer than the ambient temperature in Phoenix. At night they had enough light to navigate and see most of the exhibited flora, though night mode photography was required to see details of the plants not directly in a spotlight. There appeared to be plenty of parking and there was no wait at all, though we arrived at a time that was not busy. They have a very nice restaurant on site and a gift shop; both close at the same time as the park itself. The salmon was delicious, and the mixed drinks were strong.

The highlight of our visit to Phoenix. The gardens are so nicely maintained, clean walkways, plenty of watering stations along the trails. There are so many beautiful desert plants! If I was local or visiting often, I would recommend a yearly pass even!

Very hot but very beautiful! Wear a hat, bring sunscreen and a water bottle! Employees were awesome at making sure you understood the map and where to find water refills and the cooling centers (which we totally used!) The trails are set up pretty easy to understand and the plants are absolutely beautiful. Even though we came when it was almost the hottest part of the day, we still managed to see some cute wildlife and tons of birds.

What a wonderful, peaceful treasure in the middle of Phoenix! My family spent the better part of an afternoon wandering through the Desert Botanical Garden. Very well maintained with a huge variety of desert plants. Most of the plants had small signs posted near them that gave details about each one. There was even a butterfly garden. The staff was friendly and helpful, the bathrooms were clean, and there were water fountains throughout. Most of the paths were shady which made the visit more enjoyable in the desert heat. We will visit here again.

In town for a conference and had a blast at the Flashlight Night at Desert Botanical Garden. All staff and volunteers encountered were hospitable and informative. Plenty of water refill stations and clean restrooms. Gift shop has a nice selection/variety of items. The map given at entry was helpful. Several informative signs and learning stations, as well as educational entertainment. So glad we went!

What can I say about this Garden, it was very dry Brown and lacking Greenery. There must have been a serious dry spell amongst this garden because it was like the no hope Garden. You know if you wanted to go for a nice walk this will be a place to come and you can walk amongst the plants because you can definitely get some steps in. But other than that, I would not waste my time. Or maybe you need to go a certain season, but definitely check. we were told that this was the best time to go, and that person lied to us

The Desert Botanical Garden in Arizona is nothing short of magical. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to a world where the desert comes alive in the most vibrant and unexpected ways. The variety of cacti, succulents, and rare plants is breathtaking, each one more unique than the last. As you wander through the winding trails, the towering saguaro cacti and bursts of colorful flowers create an enchanting landscape that feels almost otherworldly. The garden is beautifully curated, with thoughtful displays and information that highlight the incredible resilience and beauty of desert life. Walking through at sunset was a particularly unforgettable experience—the warm, golden light made the plants glow in a way that felt like stepping into a painting. It’s not just a garden, it’s an immersive experience where you can feel the tranquility of the desert and appreciate its delicate ecosystems.Whether you’re a plant lover or just looking for a peaceful escape, the Desert Botanical Garden offers something

I recently attended the yearly plant sale at the Desert Botanical Garden, and I was thoroughly impressed! The event had a fantastic selection of plants, ranging from unique desert natives to beautiful succulents and cacti. The variety available was perfect for both beginner gardeners and more experienced plant enthusiasts. What really stood out was the staff. Every single person I interacted with was vastly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Whether I had questions about soil types, plant care, or which plants were best suited for my garden, they were able to provide clear and insightful answers. The layout of the sale was well-organized, making it easy to browse through the different sections without feeling overwhelmed. It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into curating such a diverse selection. I appreciated that there were plenty of staff members on hand, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the passion the staff had for plants was contagious.Overall, I highly recommend the Desert Botanical Garden's yearly plant sale for anyone looking to add to their collection or even just to learn more about desert plants. I’ll definitely be returning next year!

My wife was really eager to see cactus in Arizona, and this was the perfect introduction to the natural foliage here!Pity the Butterfly Park was closed for the season, but otherwise, it's a great way to spend a morning.Come early in the summer, though: it gets hot real fast!

Beautiful garden with a wonderful collection of desert flora. The butterfly exhibit was awesome with plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the beautiful butterflys as they fly around, but watch where you step cause do land around your feet sometimes! Places for to fill up water bottles were set up all around and there was a fair bit of shade scattered around the garden so if you got too warm you could find a place to sit. Would definitely recommend if you are thinking about going!

This was an amazing surprise! My family and I had some time before our flight and we wanted to do something cool and educational. So on a whim we went to the botanical garden and fell in love. This has to be one of the more amazing finds that we had on our trip with just how beautiful all the cacti and flowers are. Everyone that worked there is super friendly and caring and was concerned about making sure that we kept cool and had water. But we just kept pinching ourselves because we didn't realize how beautiful all the different kind of cactus are. Bottom line is it is a wonderful place to visit. Whether or not you're local or passing through, it is worth the time to enjoy some beautiful scenery.

Well worth the visit, especially if you buy a membership which they let you apply your tickets towards after your visit if you like. Thoroughly enjoyed the Ukrainian "Light Bloom" art exhibit currently running. We arrived at 5:30 and spent about 2 hours wandering. This exhibit is best enjoyed after sunset but the rest of the gardens would be more visible during the day. The butterfly area closed at 5pm, so if you want to view that section go a bit earlier. Loads of beautiful plants and photo opportunities. Pretty amazing spot to be and cool creatures wandering around too, like bearded dragons and bunnies. Fun for all ages.

The gardens were beautiful and well curated. Some incredible cactus specimens and a wide variety of rare and endangered desert plants. Also, there is plenty of wildlife to see. We saw rabbits, butterflies, round-tailed ground squirrels, desert spiny lizards, roadrunners, and even a coyote ran across the path just feet in front of us!

Absolutely spectacular and the best thing we saw in Scottsdale! Walking though the beautifully maintained gardens, there are hundreds of different plants and cacti. There is even a butterfly area, hummingbird, and bee. After dark the gardens are lit up with beautiful sculptures placed in the gardens. There is a great store with beautiful and fun things to buy, and there's a restaurant on site called Gertrudes. If you're visiting Scottsdale, this is a must see, we all loved it!
